Nos complace anunciar una oportunidad de investigación para estudiantes de pregrado interesados en explorar el fascinante mundo de las heteroestructuras de materiales 2D utilizando la técnica de transferencia con estampado (Stamping transfer technique). Este proyecto de investigación ofrece: Una experiencia inmersiva en el campo de los nanomateriales y sus aplicaciones. Entrenamiento práctico en técnicas experimentales únicas . Colaboración con investigadores experimentados y mentores académicos. No se requiere experiencia previa en investigación, pero es esencial un fuerte interés en la ciencia de materiales y el deseo de aprender. Esta oportunidad está abierta a estudiantes de pregrado (de segundo año o mas ).

Para la fabricación de celdas solares flexibles, se requiere un material conductor con propiedades mecánicas robustas. Con el uso de técnicas de micro-fabricación, se puede mejorar las propiedades mecánicas de películas delgadas. el trabajo contempla el estudio de la estructuración de electrodos transparentes de ITO (indium tin oxide) por técnica de grabado plasma reactivo (Reactive Ion Etching).

This research opportunity offers the possibility to explore, to analyze and to generate specificity models of DNA binding for the transcription factor MarA through computational biology approaches. We have large amounts of data generated by directed evolution experiments performed in vivo in bacteria (hundreds of Gbytes). Also, this research will involve searching and assessing specificity models of MarA binding in the whole genome of E. coli bacteria ( 5 Mbytes).

05-06-2022 Fabrication of 2D material-reinforced metal matrix composites by additive manufacturing.
Numerous medical devices are employed to treat or alleviate various diseases and injuries as well as anatomy and physiological process support. Their failures or malfunctions often relate to processes/problems occurring rubbing interfaces. Therefore, the biotribological behavior of such systems plays a crucial role in prolonging their safe and reliable operation. In this sense, there is a need to further enhance the mechanical properties and biotribological behavior of the materials. This can for example be done by reinforcing the materials with fillers. 2D materials such as graphene feature great potential for biological/biomedical applications. Moreover, the fabrication of multifunctional composite structures using additive manufacturing (AM) techniques like selective laser melting (SLM) for biomedical/biotribological applications remains relatively underexplored. Undoubtedly, combining additive manufacturing with 2D material-based metal matrix composites (MMCs) has the potential to offer up new opportunities for patient-specific (tailor-made) and wear-resistant implants.

10-07-2018 Synthesis of nanocatalizadores of low-cost energy conversion process.
In this line of research raises the synthesis of catalysts pirolizados of base carbon in nanometer scale as its use for the replacement of platinum in fuel cells. The synthesis of the precursor prior to the pyrolysis process will take place through the routes, electrochemical, in order to achieve a nanostructure of magnetite coated with a layer of thickness controllable polyaniline-type core@shell (Fe3O4@PANI). The pyrolysis process was carried out in a tube furnace to 1000 ° c under inert atmosphere. The characterization is carried out by means of FESEM, XPS, and determination of BET area. The research is framed within the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (CIEN-UC).
