Mineria - Investigacion Aplicada con Softwares Mineros
Se realizará investigación en temáticas de minería utilizando distintos softwares mineros disponibles en el Departamento de Mineria de la Universidad. Dentro de los potenciales softwares a utilizar se encuentra Leaprfrog, Vulcan,Surpac, Minesight, Whittle, Voxler. Los softwares a utilizar y las problemáticas a tratar se coordinarán durante las primeras clases del curso. La idea principal del IPRE es formar a los participantes en el uso de distintos softwares mineros. El formato de clases y horarios se coordinará con los inscritos al curso.

Herramientas para hacer análisis de sensibilidad y flexibilidad en evaluación de proyectos
Determinar la rentabilidad de un proyecto es siempre incierto. Para hacer una evaluación robusta se usan varias técnicas. La principal es el análisis de sensibilidad, que cuantifica el impacto de la variación de una variable en el resultado. Pero este análisis debe ir acompañado del análisis de flexibilidad, que permite revisar las decisiones en el tiempo, de acuerdo estado del mundo. Ésta oportunidad de investigación apunta a crear herramientas estándar, customizables que permitan realizar estos análisis en la evaluación de un proyecto. Se cuenta con un banco de proyectos para usar como casos de estudio.

Photogrammetric application for high precision positioning of drones
The experiments to measure the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation requiere high precision polarized calibrators. For this, our group is developing a drone based calibrator able to provide a polarized reference signal on the sky, requiring a high precision metrology system able to provide an extremely accurate position and aim of the drone while flying. Our system is based on photogrammetry (patent pending) and can monitor the polarization angle of the source with better than 0.1 degrees of absolute accuracy. In this IPRE the student will contribute to develop this metrology system, performing field tests with the drone, running experimental data analysis, developing of specialized photogrammetry software, and, if possible, can even participate in real site tests at the astronomical sites of northern Chile.

Determine the profitability of a project is always uncertain. To make an assessment on robust use several different techniques. The main one is sensitivity analysis, which quantifies the impact of the variation of a variable in the result. But this analysis must be accompanied by flexibility analysis, which allows you to review the decisions at the time, according to state of the world. This research opportunity aims to create tools-standard, customizable, to conduct these tests in the evaluation of a project. There is a bank of projects for use as case of study.
