05-06-2023 Workers' positioning and task identification system for offsite construction industries
Offsite construction industries have become appealing because of their time efficiencies, safety, and reduced waste. Although this new trend promotes the previously mentioned advantages, they still face some significant challenges, such as tracking and monitoring the current state of the component being built. In order to address this challenge, the current undergraduate research project proposes developing and implementing a worker's positioning and activity identification system. The information to accomplish these aims is retrieved from four load cells (LC) and four inertial measurement units (IMUs). The sensor data should be acquired and pre-processed by a microcontroller, sending that information to a computer. The computer uses pre-processed information to identify the workers' positions and their current activities.
