07-12-2023 Potenciando el Análisis Multi-Dimensión en Process Mining
Estamos trabajando en un proyecto de investigación centrado en potenciar el análisis de la dimensión de costos con Process Mining. El objetivo es definir métodos (guías con pasos a seguir) para analizar costos junto a otras dimensiones, los que serán validados al aplicarse en procesos reales. Existen múltiples líneas de investigación específicas dentro del proyecto. Entre las tareas donde podrías colaborar están: • Estudiar métricas para la medición del desempeño de costos y otras dimensiones. • Implementar métodos ad-hoc que permitan la visualización y análisis de costos y otras dimensiones. • Analizar logs de eventos bajo una perspectiva multi-dimensión enfocada en costos.

07-12-2023 Herramienta para aplicar conformance declarativo a ejecución de procedimientos médicos
Process Mining (PM) es una disciplina que usa datos de la ejecución de procesos para detectar ineficiencias, desviaciones del curso esperado y entregar información para optimizarlos. El grupo de investigación POME (Process Oriented Medical Education), al alero de HAPLAB, desarrolló una metodología para modelar procedimientos quirúrgicos como procesos, obtener datos estandarizados y analizarlos con PM. En ese contexto, se plantea la posibilidad de usar Conformance Declarativo (CD) para comparar instalaciones de catéteres venosos centrales con un modelo declarativo normativo, para evaluar el logro de la competencia técnica asociada al procedimiento. El objetivo del IPre es desarrollar una herramienta que permita usar CD ponderado para comparar el grado de desviación de una ejecución del procedimiento. Para esto, ya se cuenta con plugin de CD, definición de un modelo declarativo del proceso y de las ponderaciones de cada regla, y datos de ejecuciones para aplicar la herramienta.

14-07-2023 Conformance Checking Multi-Perspectiva Centrado en Costos
Dado un log de eventos y un modelo del proceso ideal, podemos verificar la conformidad entre estos. En general, conformance checking se aplica respecto al flujo de actividades del proceso, pero existen formas de considerar otras perspectivas, las cuales se enfocan en realizar correcciones en base a reglas incluidas en el modelo. Identificamos varios retos que podrían ser abordados, como la definición de reglas adicionales a las del modelo, extraídas desde el log, la incorporación de reglas en distintos niveles, y la inclusión de métricas de conformance complementarias Tenemos algunas ideas iniciales, y buscamos estudiar su novedad y factibilidad, así como aplicarlas. En concreto, se te pedirá: • Revisar literatura de conformance checking multi-perspectiva para verificar el estado del arte y la novedad de las ideas. • Proponer ideas adicionales para abordar los retos, y/o complementar las ya propuestas. • Implementar las ideas propuestas y aplicarlas sobre datos simulados.

14-07-2023 Calculando Costo-Efectividad en el Contexto de Process Mining
Estamos trabajando en un proyecto de investigación centrado en potenciar el análisis de la dimensión de costos con Process Mining. El objetivo es definir métodos (guías con pasos a seguir) para analizar costos junto a otras dimensiones, los que serán validados al aplicarse en procesos reales. Para lo anterior, hemos definido una serie de subproyectos. Este subproyecto se enfoca en formalmente definir costo-efectividad para contextos orientados a procesos, así como métodos para su medición. Entre las tareas donde podrías colaborar están: • Investigar métricas orientadas a procesos para medir costo-efectividad. • Estudiar publicaciones de disciplinas donde se utiliza costo-efectividad. • Definir una manera formal para medir costo-efectividad. • Definir métricas para medir costo-efectividad en procesos. • Diseñar un método para visualizar las métricas definidas. • Verificar la factibilidad del método con datos simulados. • Validar la utilidad del método con datos reales.

08-05-2023 Potenciando Herramienta para la Visualización del Desempeño de Variantes del Proceso por medio de Directed Rooted Trees
Hemos desarrollado una herramienta que permite visualizar variantes del proceso como árboles dirigidos (cada hoja del árbol es la actividad de fin de una variante). Decoramos el árbol con información sobre costos de ejecuciones del proceso. Puedes probar la herramienta en https://drt-process-performance.surge.sh/. Queremos potenciar la herramienta, permitiendo decorar el árbol con métricas de otras dimensiones, como tiempo, calidad y flexibilidad. Esta Investigación de Pregrado requiere conocimiento básico de JavaScript, HTML y CSS. En concreto, se te pedirá: • Potenciar la interfaz de la herramienta. • Extender la herramienta para visualizar métricas de agregación de otras dimensiones. • Permitir una visualización multi-perspectiva de las métricas de agregación en el diagrama. • Estudiar la posibilidad de incorporar métodos de agrupamiento (por ejemplo, cuando ocurre comportamiento lineal) o para la representación de paralelismo (sin dejar de visualizar las variantes existentes).

07-12-2023 Enhancing Multi-Dimension Exploratory Analyses through the Devil’s Quadrangle
In a first stage, we have devised a method for filtering event logs based on Process Performance Indicators (PPI) from the four dimensions considered by the Devil’s Quadrangle. You can see the implemented method at https://bit.ly/dq_dashboard. In a second stage, we enhanced the implementation of the method for calculating distinct metrics in a centralized manner. In a third stage, we seek to incorporate additional value by providing tools that facilitate the realization of exploratory analyses. Specifically, you will be tasked with: • Calculating and visualizing the Pareto front of every pair of dimensions. • Defining a metric for the identification of cases with optimal performance. • Visualizing the Devil’s Quadrangle for the expected values of a group of cases. • Studying the feasibility of incorporating a dimension related to resources to the method.

We are working in a research project centered on enhancing the analysis of the costs dimension with Process Mining. The goal is to define methods (step-by-step guides) for analyzing costs jointly with other dimensions, which will be validated through their application in real processes. For the above, we have defined several subprojects. This subproject focuses on the first steps that are necessary for later defining methods for performing costs-focused operational support. 07-12-2023 Tool to apply declarative conformance to the performance of medical procedures
Process Mining (PM) is a discipline that uses data from the execution of processes to detect inefficiencies, deviations from the expected execution, and provide information to optimize the processes. POME (Process Oriented Medical Education), a research project conducted by the HAPLAB research group, developed a methodology to model surgical procedures as processes, obtain standardized data and analyze them with PM. In this context, the possibility of using Declarative Conformance (DC) is proposed to compare central venous catheter installations with a normative declarative model, to evaluate the achievement of technical competence associated with the procedure. The goal of this research project is to develop a tool that allows using weighted DC to compare the degree of deviation of a procedure execution. There is already a DC plugin, a definition of a declarative model of the process and the weights of each rule, and real execution data to test the tool.

14-07-2023 Multi-Perspective Conformance Checking Centered in Costs
Given an event log and a model of the ideal process, we can verify the conformance between them. Generally, conformance checking is applied over the flow of activities of the process, but there are ways for considering other perspectives. These focus on making corrections based on rules included in the model. We identified several challenges that could be addressed, such as the definition of additional rules than those of the model, extracted from the log, the incorporation of rule in distinct levels, and the inclusion of complementary conformance metrics. We have some initial ideas, and want to study their novelty and feasibility, as well as apply them. Specifically, you will be tasked with: • Reviewing multi-perspective conformance checking literature to verify the state-of-the-art and novelty of the ideas. • Proposing additional ideas and/or complement the existing ones. • Implementing the proposed ideas and apply them over simulated data.

08-05-2023 Enhancing a Tool for Visualizing Performance of Process Variants through Directed Rooted Trees
We have developed a tool that allows the visualization of process variants as a Directed Rooted Tree (every leaf of the tree is the end activity of a variant). We decorate the tree with information about costs of executions of the process. You can try the tool at https://drt-process-performance.surge.sh/. We want to enhance the tool by allowing the decoration of the tree with metrics from other dimensions, such as time, quality, and flexibility. This Undergraduate Research requires basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Specifically, you will be tasked with: • Enhancing the interface of the tool. • Extending the tool to also visualize aggregation metrics related to other dimensions. • Allowing a multi-perspective visualization of the aggregation metrics in the diagram. • Studying the possibility of incorporating grouping methods (e.g., when there is linear behavior) or for representing parallelism (while also visualizing the existing variants).

'Process Mining' is the area of Data Science that analyses the PROCESSES using data. In Process Mining there is the problem of 'Conformance Checking': given a process Model (Petri Net, Process Tree, BPMN, ...) and data of the process execution, find the mismatches between them. Conformance Checking is used to detect protocol violations (medical, financial, ...), or to validate that the processes model used for decision making are faithful representations of the reality. Although it is a problem studied in the literature, its effective application in the Big Data Era is still far and full of challenges to solve. We are looking for motivated and hard-wordking students interested on researching those challenges.
