We are developing programmable platforms to precisely control the delivery of instructions to cellular systems. As a model system, we are building a programable “laser printer” capable of delivering spatially and temporally resolved light signals to activate optogenetic programs within cultured cells. This requires creating an interphase that allows dynamic control of the light input, controlling position, intensity and duration of light stimuli.
