The boundary element method (BEM) is a powerful computational technique for the simulation of wave scattering problems. Many applications can be found in acoustics and electromagnetics, for example in the design of medical instruments that use acoustic fields to treat tumours. When increasing the frequency of the wave field, the mesh has to be refined, resulting in large linear systems to be solved. Solving these large problems require efficient algorithms from the field of high-performance computing. This includes the use of parallel algorithms to distribute the computational load over a cluster of computer nodes.
In this project, efficient parallel algorithms will be developed to improve the efficiency of the BEM for high-frequency scattering problems. This involves both the design, analysis and implementation of the computational algorithms. The implementation of these ne
