30-11-2023 Portable device for neonatal length measurement
Anthropometric measurement of newborn length continues to be a challenge in terms of precision and reliability. This is especially critical in hospitals and neonatal critical care units, given the greater difficulty in applying the measurement technique in the conditions in which newborns are found (e.g., in incubators or cardiorespiratory monitoring). These dimensional parameters are the basis for individual clinical decisions and nutritional strategies. The aforementioned measurement difficulties have been recognized and described both locally and internationally, which is why UNICEF (2017) communicated a measurement product profile with the necessary specifications, which is not yet on the market. During this IPRE we will work on literature review and market analysis, as well as collecting information in the field to define requirements and design proposals for the device.
